Dear Sir: Mr. Henry Fink, Gen'l Manager has sent me some papers in regard to a claim of the Shippers Compress Co.of Norfolk against the N.& W.R.R. As I understand from the papers the amount of the claim, $1690.35 has been paid through the N.& W.attorneys, Sharpe & Hughes at Norfolk. Will you kindly advise me if this is the fact and I will give the N.& W.R.R. credit for this amount and charge the claim off. It will have to be borne by the N.& W. and M.& C.R.Rds. the E.T.V.& G.R.R. having gone into bankruptcy and the new organ-ization not being responsible for the liabilities of the old. Yours truly, Thomas Pinckney G.E. Agent Rcvd. Oct 26, 1887
