Alexandria April 1, 1801 Sir Please pay to Charles Simms collector in the port of Alexandria or order at sight eight hundred & seventy five dollars being for one quarter’s salary due me the day as one of the Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States. Bushrod Washington Pay Treasurer of the United States, Ch. Simms Coll pay to credit of Sam Meredith G. Simpson, cashier
