Description
Robert E. Lee writes to Samuel Cooper to request an order for General States Rights Gist to report to Major General J.C. Pemberton for duty with the troops under his command in South Carolina and Georgia. He also advises General Trapier to report to General Beauregard for duty, signed by Robert E. Lee, 8 April 1862.

Headquarters Richmond 8th April 1862 General S. Cooper A & I.G. General, I respecty request that you will cause an order to be issued for Gen'l S.R. Gist to report to Maj. Gen'l J.C. Pemberton comdg. Dept. So. Ca. & Ga., for duty with the troops under his command. Also, if Gen'l Trapier has not been advised that he report to Gen'l Beauregard for duty. I am very respectfully your obedient servant.
