Warrant signed by Isaac Huger, commanding to send Tompson Simons to Charleston, dated March 1, 1785.

Transcription

South-Carolina. The State of South-Carolina. To all and singular the Sheriffs of the said State Greeting: You, and each of you, are hereby commanded, without Delay, to attach the Body of _ Tompson Simons Themise? called Tompson Simons of the City of Charleston in the State of South Carolina Merchant wheresoever he may be found, within your and each of your respective Districts, so that you compel him to be and appear before the Justices of the said State, at the Court of Common Pleas, to be holden at Charleston, on the third Tuesday in March next, to answer to __ Jacob Cohen and Abraham Alesander otherwise called Mejs. Cohen & Alesander render masters of the City of Charleston in the State aforesaid in a plea of Debt that he render unto them three hundred and in pounds Lawful money of Great-Britain which to them he ? and from them assists detains and so forth. And have your then and there this Writ. Witness the Honourable ? one of the Justices of the & so forth at Charleston, the first Day of March in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty five and in the sixth Year of the Sovereignty and Independence of the United States of America. [recto] I have endeavoured by Samuel ? my lawful Deputy to find the within named Defendant, but could not. Wherefore by my said Deputy left a ? of this will with a Note whereon endorsed, at the usual and most notorious plea of the Defendant ? ? ? Isaac Huger
