[outer docket, viewed when folded] 4th August 1794 Robert Brodie’s Grant for 100 Acres Camden Districk Secretary’s Office} Recorded in Grant Book I, No. 5 page 510 and examined by Peter Freneau, Secretary [recto, first leaf] [drawing of tract of land] South Carolina I do hereby Certify for Robert Brodie a tract of Land containing one thousand Acres Surveyed for him the 19th of March 1794. Situate in the District of Camden on Waters of Sawney’s Creek Bounded by a line running SW. by Robert Martins Lands. all other sides by Robert Brodies And hath such form + marks as the above Plat Represents. Given under my hand this 2.d of August [signed] M. Winns} Depty Surv[?] } [signed] Peter Brennan pro. Surv. Genl [signed on folded edge] Will:m Moultrie [recto, second leaf] THE STATE OF SOUTH-CAROLINA To all to whom these Presents shall come, GREETING: KNOW YE, That in pursuance of an act of the legislature, entitled, “ An act for establishing the mode of granting the lands now vacant in this state, and for allowing a commutation to be received for some lands that have been granted, passed the 19th of February, 1791; We have granted, and by these presents do grants unto Rob. Brodie his heirs and assigns, a plantation or tract of land, containing [handwritten] One thousand acres Surveyed for him 19th Mar. 1794 Situate in the District of Camden on Waters of Sawney’s Creek bounded by a line running SW. by Rob. Martins land all other sides by Rob. Brodies [printed] having such shape, form and marks, as are represented by a plat hereunto annexed, together with all woods, trees, waters, water courses, profits, commodities, appurtenances and hereditaments, whatsoever thereunto belonging: TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said tract of One thousand acres of land, and all singular other the premises hereby granted unto the said Rob. Brodie his heirs and assigns, for ever in free and common soccage. Given under the Great Seal of the State. WITNESS his Excellency WILLIAM MOULTRIE, Esquire, Governor and Commander in Chief in and over the said state, at Columbia, this fourth day of August Anno Domini, one thousand seven hundred and ninety four and of Independence of the United States of America the Nineteenth
