Description

On Logan County Bank stationary, Caldwell recalls his ranks and commands over the course of the Civil War. At the time of writing he was president of the bank.

I entered the Confederate Army 22nd September 1861, as Captain Co A Ninth Ky Infantry, Was promoted to the rank of Major in April 1862 and was elected Lt Colonel in May following, and became by promotion Colonel of the Regt in Spring of 1863, and was in command (except when assigned to command of Orphan Brigade of which Regt was a part) until the close of the war
