Transcription

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. $1,000. Bond No. 32 STATE OF MISSOURI. Know all Men by these Presents, That the State of Missouri hereby acknowledges to owe, for value received, to A. W. Morrison Treasurer, or Bearer, the sum of ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS, lawful money of the United States of America, which sum of One Thousand Dollars the State of Missouri promises to pay, thirty years after the date hereof, (redeemable at the pleasure of the State, at any time after twenty years,) to A. W. Morrison Treasurer, or Bearer, in gold or silver, payable at the BANK OF COMMERCE, in the City of New York, in the State of New York. This bond being issued under and pursuant to the ACt of the General ASsembly of the State of Missouri, entitled "An Act to provide means to pay the State Bonds falling due in the year eighteen hundred and fifty-three," approved February 24, 1853, a true copy of which appears on the back hereof. In Testimony Whereof, and pursuant to the authority granted by said Act, the Governor of the State of Missouri has signed, and the Secretary of State has countersigned, these presents, and caused the Great Seal of the State of Missouri to be affixed hereto, at the City of Jefferson, in said State, this fifteenth day of April A.D., 1853. By the Governor, [signed] Sterling Price Registered at the Office of the Auditor of Public Accounts, this fifteenth day of April 1853.
