Description

Letter of recommendation from Sterling Price to President Elect, General Franklin Pierce regarding Mr. Jesse Morin from Platte County, Missouri. Price explains that Morin has proved his skills as an officer in the Mexican war and would give "entire satisfaction" for the position of Indian Agent. [recto] Jefferson City Missouri Jany. 16th 1853 Gen. Franklin Pierce Pres. Elect U. States Dear Sir Mr. Jesse Morin of Platte County MO. desires to be appointed Indian agent. I have been well acquainted with Mr. Morin for a number of years and I know him to be a highly respectable gentleman eminently qualified to discharge the duties of the office he seeks. Mr. Morin was a gallant officer under my command in the late war with Mexico. I am free to say that Mr. Morin would give entire satisfaction to those with whom he may have official communication and to his Government.
