Magruder, travelling under orders fromt he U.S. Army, in 1844, requests Earle "send up my clothes if possible tonight" as he must leave the following morning for Providence.

Transcription

Tremont House 19th ? Friday 10 P.M. Dr Sir, I have this moment arrived in great haste, for Washington, by the way of New Port, & must leave here tomorrow morning at 1/4 to 8 ock., for Providence - Please therefore, send up my clothes if possible tonight, or otherwise, by 1/2 past 6 ock, tomorrow morning - I am sorry to give you so much trouble, but it cannot be avoided as I am travelling under orders.
