Description
Livingstone writes that his mother's illness prevents him from being able to know precisely which day his will be able to meet Baines. Livingstone further advises about when specific meetings should be held and his objectives for those meetings.

Dundee 27th Sept
1857
Dear Sir
The illness of my aged mother renders it impossible to specify the exact day on which I hope to be with you But I shall know when I reach Kendal on my way South & will let you know at the earliest moment I got your note of 23 two days ago at Dundee but have been so busy I could not answer it and now I fear it is unsatisfactorly you had better hold the annual meeting at the usual time & the next a small one of the friends of missions in general as I do not appear specially for the London Missionary Society but wish to enlist the sympathies of Christians in general for the new field I am
