[recto] Washington 29 May1838 My dear Sir I received your letter of the 25th Inst and am much obliged to you for the interest you take in the success of my views in relation to the Cherokee Treaty. The opposition originated in misapprehension and all will go right over here. With great regard Yours truly J.R. Poinsett
